The summer tour opens next month: twelve cities, two divisions, and a format that is friendlier to first-timers than it sounds.
Beginner division is for players in their first two years. The pace is slower, the card is permitted at the table at all times, and questions during play are normal.
Open division is standard rules, standard pace. You are expected to know the Charleston and to have settled on a hand without help.
What to bring:
- Your current year's card — last year's is not valid.
- A pencil, for marking hands you have ruled out.
- Reading glasses, if you use them. The card is printed small and the lighting is rarely ideal.
- Layered clothing. Venues are either freezing or not, and you will be sitting still for four hours.
- Water and a snack. Breaks are short.
What not to bring: your own set. Venues provide them, and matching tiles across all tables matters more than the comfort of your own.
Registration is open on the league site, and the beginner division fills first.
