Wednesday open play has been running two tables since spring, and the waiting list has been growing longer every week. From this month there is a third table.
Two things are new:
- A ten-minute beginner briefing at the start of each session, covering the Charleston and how to read the card. It runs at 6:30, before the first deal, and it is free.
- A designated teaching table for the first hour, where play is slower, questions are welcome, and nobody minds being asked what a quint is.
Loan sets are available at the desk, and spare cards can be bought on the night. You do not need to bring anything except yourself — and if you have been meaning to try the game for a while, the teaching table is the easiest way in.
